In the days of the Roman Empire, a Roman citizen could proclaim his status by declaring "Civis Romanus sum"... "I am a citizen of Rome." That declaration guaranteed that he would be treated according to the laws and protections that Rome afforded her citizens.
Teaching American government and civics is an in-depth process that touches on past, present, and future. It is vital that we understand what it means when we say, "Civis Americanus sum."

Opening Shots
Welcome! My name is Mike, and I am a graduate student at George Mason University. I just completed the Secondary Education licensing program (bonus points if you can guess my content area), and now I am pursuing a Master's Degree. Stay tuned here for my thoughts on education, technology, and where the future will take our schools and students. (Is it weird that I am following my own blog?)
